Chennai , Jan. 24

INDIA Household & Healthcare Ltd (IHHL), a city-based marketing and distribution company with interests in fast moving consumer goods and telecom, is the title sponsor for the first Global India Film Awards (GIFA) in Dubai.

The GIFA 2005, a three-day Bollywood extravaganza, will be held at Dubai's Al Wasi Stadium, culminating with the awards presentation ceremony on January 27.

The Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, IHHL, Mr Vijay R. Singh, said the GIFA is part of the Dubai Shopping Festival and would be held for the next five years.

The Bollywood awards ceremony will feature 15 popular award categories, including best actor and actress, and eight technical award categories. It would feature a six-team soccer match, with leading actors captaining the teams.

There will also be an auction of celebrity clothes and accessories, the proceeds of which will go towards a social cause, Mr Singh said.

The event is organised by Global Events and is estimated to cost about 14 million dirhams (around Rs 16 crore).

IHHL markets and distributes products from LG Household and Healthcare, and Hyundai Mobile.

The company also plans to introduce the Hyundai Lifecare, Eurolife and Coroli edible oil in the Indian market.

The company has expansion plans for the Middle East and the SAARC countries, he said.
