Hyderabad , Jan. 24

ANDHRA PRADESH Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (APIDC) will set up a separate cell to promote biotechnology in the State. A cell to attract non-resident Indians to invest in the State is also mooted.

Mr S. Indrasain Reddy, who assumed the office of Chairman of the Corporation here on Monday, told newsmen that they would hold a meeting with biotech experts to discuss ways to promote the industry.

A review of sick industries would be held by a monitoring committee to study their sickness. "We will see whether some viable units could be revived," he said.

The corporation would focus on textiles, cement, information technology and pharmaceutical sectors where there was a huge scope for development. Mr Reddy said he would also promote industry-university coordination and organise entrepreneur meets to discuss new ideas.

Mr K. Keshava Rao, President of Pradesh Congress Committee, said the party was for setting up separate Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction.
