Indian Hotels net doubles in Q3

A STRONG growth in average room rents and occupancies helped The Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) post a 111 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 35 crore in the third-quarter ended December 31, 2004, against Rs 16.60 crore in the corresponding period last year.

While total income during the quarter grew 29 per cent at Rs 252.58 crore (Rs 195.15 crore), gross profit was up 83 per cent at Rs 70.43 crore (Rs 38.46 crore).

Net profit for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2004, also grew by 167 per cent at Rs 64 crore on a turnover growth of 28 per cent at Rs 603.42 crore (Rs 472.35 crore).
