Chennai , Jan. 25

MAXAMEC, a range of large toy construction sets from Sweden, will be launched on Wednesday at VGP's amusement park Universal Kingdom, near Chennai.

There will be a MaxaMec Land at the VGP amusement park, Mr V.G.P. Ravidas, Managing Director, the VGP Group of Companies, said.

The creative and educational toys are targeted at children in the age group of 3-12 years.

Today, when 50 per cent of the toys manufactured in the US, the UK and Japan are violent, these kits bring out the creative and imaginative talents of the children, said Mr Stephen Karisten, the inventor of MaxaMec and Chairman, SAK Industrier AB, Sweden.

Children can build a variety of things such as go-karts, submarines, doll carriages and toy kitchens. There are two versions: The start-kit that has 109 pieces and costs Rs 1,500, the large kit, priced at Rs 2,500, has 187 pieces, he said.

The company plans to supply to schools and amusement parks. The kits will not be available at the regular toy stores, Mr Karisten said.
