Ms Ratna Bai, who assumed charge on Thursday along with the other members of the new governing body, told newspersons that she would strive to improve the lot of Girijans and secure a good price for their products. Several income generating schemes would be taken up to improve their living conditions. In particular, she said, she would focus on improving the lot of Girijan women. Mr A. Besides, the GCC had also procured 1,500 tonnes of tamarind worth Rs 2.82 crore from Chhattisgarh. It was made available to consumers at Rs 10 per kg.
