Mumbai , Jan. 27 COLGATE-PALMOLIVE (India) Ltd has reported a four per cent increase in its profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 28.54 crore for the third quarter of the current fiscal against Rs 27.45 crore in the year-ago period. The company said PAT was impacted by a charge of Rs 5.1 crore on a voluntary retirement scheme at its Aurangabad plant and an additional depreciation of Rs 2.7 crore for the write-down in the value of idle assets to an estimated net realisable value. Net sales for the third quarter fell by six per cent to Rs 235.8 crore (Rs 250.24 crore). But sales registered a three per cent increase in unit volume terms during this quarter. In the nine-month period, net profit increased by 14 per cent to Rs 80.9 crore and net sales by 2 per cent to Rs 724.2 crore. The growth in net profit was attributed to company's continuing efforts and focussed programmes to enhance efficiencies and reduce costs, Colgate said in a news release. The company said it incurred a capital expenditure of Rs 53 crore to build a toothpaste manufacturing facility at Himachal Pradesh.
