Attack on hotel decried

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A conglomeration of industrial bodies including the Thiruvananthapuram Chamber of Commerce, Trivandrum Agenda Task Force, and the Indian Association of Tour Operators and Hotel and Restaurant Owners' Association have expressed concern at the recent attack on a resort at the Kovalam beach near the city.

According to a press note issued by the organisations, such incidents will hamper the economic development of the State and have an adverse impact on the minds of potential investors.

The various organisations have also appealed to the State Government to take all necessary steps to ensure the maintenance of law and order.

A portion of the Green Cove Resort and Spa at Kovalam was damaged on January 26 during a protest called against alleged encroachments made by the hotel. The resort, owned by the Muthoot Pappachan group and managed by the Taj group of hotels, opened last month.
