Infrastructure GoM meet on Feb 3 to consider airport upgradation proposals Our Bureau
New Delhi , Jan. 28 THE four-member Empowered Group of Ministers is "tentatively" scheduled to meet on February 3 to take a view on the request for proposals (RFP) that are to be provided to the nine bidders short-listed for the restructuring and modernisation programme of Delhi and Mumbai airports. "The meeting of the Empowered Group of Ministers to finalise the RFP document is tentatively planned for February 3," according to the Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel, here. The four-member committee is headed by the Minister for Defence and includes the Ministers for Law, Finance and Civil Aviation. The Minister told newspersons that those joint venture partners who would provide the most modern airports in the least possible time would get higher weightage. Among the nine entities short-listed for modernising the two airports include the Reliance group, GMR, L&T, Bharati and DLF. The Minister added that while modernisation of at least 10 other non-metro airports would be completed this fiscal, planning for the remaining 20 airports short-listed for upgradation would be completed this year itself. He added that the Government would shortly take a view on division of international routes among the airlines of India. On the issue of more airlines operating to London, he indicated that a decision could be taken by the end of the month. Meanwhile, tenders are to be issued within the next few days for upgrading terminal 1-B in Delhi, Mr Patel said and added that the entire exercise is likely to cost Rs 75 crore.
