THE former Prime Minister, Mr H.D. Deve Gowda, has said that his party will fight if there are any problems in the implementation of the coastal special economic zone (SEZ) project in Mangalore.

Speaking to newspersons on Friday, he said: "I have been hearing about some hitches in its implementation. The Janata Dal (Secular) will fight, if there are any problems in SEZ project implementation."

The proposed massive investments in the project will help in the development of the region, he added.

Expressing concern over the condition of farmers in the country, he said that the Union Government's economic policy should give adequate importance to this issue.

It should work more on strengthening rural infrastructure, he added.
