New Delhi , Jan. 29

INDIA and Korea have finalised the terms of reference of the India-Korea Joint Study Group (JSG), which would make a comprehensive study on bilateral economic linkages between the two countries.

This was decided at the first meeting of the India-Korea JSG that was held here on January 27-28. While Mr Jong-Ki Hong, Deputy Minister for Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Republic of Korea, led the Korean side, the Commerce Secretary, Mr S.N. Menon, led the Indian side.

The agreed terms of reference that would define the scope of the work to be undertaken by the JSG were signed and exchanged between the sides.

The group would also identify constraints, barriers and impediments to closer co-operation and recommend measures to facilitate and optimise co-operation between the two countries. The JSG would study the participation of the two countries in regional trading arrangements and draw up a programme for the development of investment, trade and economic co-operation between India and Korea over the next five years.
