Kolkata , Jan. 30

THE Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Eastern Region, in partnership with the India Japan Initiative, organised a one-day business workshop here.

Titled "Succeeding in Japan", the workshop focused on the manufacturing sector and was designed to offer "principles, processes and tools" of partnering with Japanese companies in manufacturing for the Japanese and global markets.

The workshop was attended, among others, by representatives of manufacturing businesses located in and around Kolkata. It sought to identify and understand world-class manufacturing excellence by providing insights into Japanese production principles and processes, the cultural context to adapting technologies, processes and practices and the key tenets for successful partnerships with Japanese companies.

Principles of Japanese operations management such as TQM (Total Quality Management), Total Quality Control (TQC) and Kaizen (continuous improvement) were elaborated upon and discussed.
