Textiles Bombay Dyeing net dips 45 pc Our Bureau
MUMBAI: Pressured by a huge increase in raw material costs, Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company Ltd's net profit fell 45 per cent to Rs 7.16 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004, over Rs 13.13 crore in the year-ago period. Raw material costs grew 37 per cent to Rs 202.15 crore (Rs 147.27 crore). Net sales rose 10.21 per cent to Rs 257.06 crore (Rs 233.23 crore). Other income fell to Rs 4.38 crore (Rs 14.33 crore). However, interest expense was also down 66 per cent to Rs 1.21 crore over the year ago period. Segment wise, DMT (dimethyl terepthalate) fared better, with net sales posting an 11 per cent increase to Rs 154.41 crore for the quarter. Net sales for the period for the textiles segment grew to Rs 106.62 crore (Rs 104.37 crore).
