McDowell clocks 15.8 pc rise in 9-month net

MCDOWELL & Co Ltd has reported a 15.8 per cent jump in net profit, from Rs 15.7 crore to Rs 18.18 crore, for the nine-month period ended December 2004.

The company said that the rise in net profit was achieved in a very difficult year when prices of major raw materials like rectified spirit have seen unprecedented rate increases, costing the company an additional Rs 33 crore during the period.

Net revenues rose to Rs 878 crore from Rs 800 crore earlier. The profitable frontline brands of the company have grown by 16 per cent during the first three quarters of the current fiscal.
