Electronics 20 pc rise in BEL third quarter net Our Bureau
Bangalore , Feb. 1 BHARAT Electronics has posted 20 per cent growth in its third quarter net profit with figures of Rs 82.30 crore. The defence PSU has turned out total income of Rs 690.25 crore, an increase of 13.7 per cent over the previous fiscal year's Q3 income. During the quarter ended December 31 of 2003-04, BEL had posted net profit of Rs 68.17 crore and total income of Rs 606.86 crore. For the latest reported period, BEL showed profit before tax of Rs 135.83 crore (Rs 96.81 crore). Total expenditure increased to Rs 537.43 crore during October-December 2004 (Rs 493.64 crore). EPS was at 10.30, which BEL said, was lower than Rs 11.44 of the corresponding period during the previous fiscal "due to add back of extraordinary item to net profit on account of VRS" amount of Rs 0.09 crore compared to Rs 23.34 crore of the last fiscal. It paid interim dividend for 2004-05 of Rs 4 per share during December 2004. For the nine months ended December 31, 2004, BEL showed net income of Rs 2,165.21 crore (Rs 1,776.72 crore). Net profit was up at Rs 251 crore (Rs 192.92 crore). BEL said it had taken exemption from segment reporting. It has not included the results of its subsidiary ventures - BEL Optronic Devices Ltd, GE BE Pvt Ltd and BEL Multitone Ltd.
