HCL Tech inks pact with Agere Systems

New Delhi , Feb. 1

HCL Technologies announced today it has entered into an agreement with Agere Systems, a provider of semiconductors for storage, wireless data and public and enterprise networks.

"Under the terms of this agreement, dedicated teams from HCL will work with Agere on developing software solutions and provide customisation and system integration services to Agere's customers. This collaboration will allow equipment manufacturers to spend more time in creating the differentiating, revenue-generating equipment features of their products," an HCL release said here.

Other benefits to equipment manufacturers who use the combined Agere and HCL offerings include procuring integrated, field-proven and validated hardware and software from a single source, it added.

As part of the pact, HCL Technologies has deployed a large set of engineers to work with Agere's team on developing and validating complete solutions based on Agere's network processors, including Multiservice Access & Edge, DSLAM & NodeB.

"Leveraging the resulting expertise in niche technologies like MPLS, QoS, ATM, VLAN, Ipv4/v6, the HCL team will be able to provide complementary customisation and system integration services through zero-learning-curve resources and augment the efforts of the development teams of equipment manufacturers using Agere network processors and software," it added.

Agere recently announced a double play of software and service initiatives involving its traffic management network processor chips used in telecommunications equipment such as digital subscriber line access multiplexers, third-generation wireless base stations and multi-service access nodes.
