Audi to open dealer facility in Bangalore

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Feb. 3

THE German luxury carmaker Audi is planning to open a dealer facility in Bangalore soon.

The city would be the first centre to market the luxury car in the southern region. Audi would also be opening dealerships in Mumbai and Delhi, which have bigger markets for its luxury cars. The two metropolises would have their distribution facility by next month, said a company release.

The dealerships will include both sales and after sales facilities that adhere to Audi's quality standards. Audi's three direct dealers in India are Euromotors in Delhi; Island City Motors in Mumbai; and Jubilant Enpro in Bangalore.

Audi will also be transferring responsibility for its business in India to its worldwide headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany. The market was previously managed from Audi's Asia Pacific regional office in Singapore.

Mr Wayne Griffiths, Director (Region Overseas), of Audi AG said, "This move signals the importance of the Indian market to Audi. We believe that India holds tremendous potential for our brand and want to make sure that we fully capitalise on the opportunities available while at the same time providing the best possible services for our customers."

As part of the transfer of the India business to Audi AG, Mr Michael Weber has been named as the new Country Manager for India. Based in Audi's headquarters, he will have overall responsibility for sales and brand development in India. Mr Weber replaces Mr Sunil Kaul, who has left the company to pursue other opportunities.
