Stir against lake reclamation

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vellayani Lake Protection Council has decided to intensify its stir against the move to convert parts of the water body for paddy cultivation.

The real motive behind the move was reclamation of the lake, a fresh water lake, orchestrated by vested interests, which included real estate dealers, alleged Mr M. Vijayakumar, a former Speaker of the Assembly. He leads the campaign to protect the lake.
