THE Mangalore Institute of Fashion Technology will hold a `Khadi Walk' from the college premises to the office of the Deputy Commissioner on February 19.

According to a press release by the institute here on Friday, the walk is being organised to popularise the use of khadi and revive the industry.

Students of the institute have conducted khadi fashion shows in Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkota, Bangalore, Udupi and Mangalore.

The Karnataka Khadi Board has invited the institute to participate in the Khadi Festival on February 12, it said.

The institute urged the Union Government to announce one day in the year as `National Khadi Day'. This will help develop the khadi industry, the release said.
