China tops Amway's Asia sales

CHINA is well ahead of any other Asian country in terms of sales registered by Amway, the company has pointed out, adding that India, given its improving profile, is currently among the top ten markets for the company.

Amway India has recorded sales of Rs 636 crore in 2003-04 (September-August). The company has so far invested Rs 151 crore here.

Expansion of product range, provision of training, innovation with an eye on the local market are some of its overall goals, Mr William S. Pinckney, Managing Director and CEO of Amway India, told newspersons here on Friday.

THE Indian direct selling industry is set to grow at a scorching pace, courtesy chiefly innovations brought about by new entrants and efforts put in by established players.

According to him, the company has been upgrading its range of brands, having started with just six products, which has been scaled up to 55. It has already introduced innovations like multiple pack sizes for the Indian market.
