AS part of Athidi Devobhava campaign, the Union Ministry of Tourism will be holding a capacity building programme for drivers of auto-rickshaw and cars, beginning February 6.

"We will tell them how to deal with the tourists. We will teach them etiquette and equip them with necessary skills to enhance the image of the twin cities as a tourist destination," Mr T.W. Sudhakar, Manager of Indiatourism, said.

He told Business Line that the aim of the programme was to build awareness on positive aspects of tourism and the importance of nurturing the right kind of manners.

"They are among the first point of reference to tourists," he said. The drivers would be informed about various places of tourist interest in and around the twin cities.

Not only that, they would be given some lessons on first aid.

The participants would be given certificates and `Paryatak Sahayogi Vahana Chalakudu' (Tourist Friendly Driver) stickers.
