Insurance Training to scribes on insurance beat Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Feb. 4 FOLLOWING the mandate of the Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh to provide training to journalists on the subject of insurance, the city-based International Institute for Insurance and Finance (IIIF) has organised a day-long round table meet for journalists on insurance sector here on Friday, where the speakers stressed on the need for a continuous education programme for the scribes covering the industry. Speaking at the meet, the veteran journalist, Mr Pothuri Venkateswara Rao, viewed that specialised reporting was the need of the hour and it was time the media managements paid heed to the fact, especially in business reporting. Terming media persons as `infomediaries', the former Chairman and Managing of Oriental Insurance Company, Mr G.V. Rao, said they have a key role to play as facilitators in spreading the insurance gospel as a risk cover. The IIIF Chief, Prof Appa Rao Machiraju, felt the need for a continuing education programme for journalists so as to cover the current vibrancy in the insurance industry and to provide balanced and right perceptions of insurance.
