Boycott Australian wool, Maneka Gandhi urges Indian cos

New Delhi , Feb. 5

MEMBER of Parliament and animal rights activist Ms Maneka Gandhi has shot-off a letter to 250 Indian companies asking them to stop using Australian wool until two abuses of Australian sheep - mulesing (live flaying) and live exports, were ended, according to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

"Ms Gandhi's letter is the latest salvo in PETA campaign against cruel treatment of sheep raised for wool in Australia," a PETA release said here.

PETA had launched the boycott of Australian wool late last year after the Australian Government "ignored repeated pleas" to ban live sheep exports, the release said.
