`Adopt constructive approach to facilitate Doha trade talks'

New Delhi , Feb. 5

FINLAND has urged India to adopt a `constructive approach' to facilitate the conclusion of the Doha development agenda trade negotiations, by following internationally agreed rules in applying trade policy measures such as anti-dumping procedures and proper injury investigations.

The Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Co-operation, Ms Paula Lehtomaki, held out this prescription, while delivering the keynote address at the India-Finland Business Forum organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. She appreciated the role played by India in international trade negotiations by defending the interests of the developing world.

The Finnish Minister called for pushing the Indian economic reform agenda to enable the two countries to fully utilise the enormous potential for bilateral trade and economic co-operation on a level playing field.
