Task force formed to review housing, habitat policy

THE Government has constituted a Task Force to review the National Housing and Habitat Policy.

The task force would review the existing policy and draft a new one, while also evaluating existing schemes, policies, guidelines, laws, by-laws and rules and regulations at the Centre/State levels in the sector.

It would also recommend the broad parameters for model by-laws and regulations to boost housing activities and remove legal impediments in achieving the goals of the revised policy.

The members of the task force include representatives from Planning Commission, Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Finance, State Governments of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu as well as organisations such as CREDAI, FICCI, CII, HUDCO, HDFC and NHB amongst others.
