NAC for more talks on unorganised sector labour Bill

THE National Advisory Council (NAC) headed by the Congress President, Ms Sonia Gandhi, has decided that the proposed provisions of the draft Unorganised Sector Workers Bill should be first discussed with experts, labour representatives and all other concerned as well as officials. It is only after the discussion process is over; a report is to be placed before the NAC again.

The council also discussed the tasks and priorities being addressed by the recently constituted National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) to augment economic growth, promote expansion of employment opportunities particularly in the textiles and apparel, leather goods, handicrafts and food processing industries, encourage manufacturing innovations and strengthen the development of skills.
