Public Sector Banks PNB distributes Rs 3 cr loans at Palakkad Our Bureau
KOCHI: Punjab National Bank has distributed retail loans to more than 100 beneficiaries amounting to Rs 3 crore at the customer relations' meet and retail lending camp conducted at Palakkad recently. Speaking on the occasion, Mr R.S. Pillai, Regional Manager, said PNB has already initiated various steps to augment the retail and agricultural sector in the State. This is in the wake of increased network due to the merger of the Kerala-based Nedungadi Bank two years back, he said. The bank, he said, has strengthened its base in the southern part of the country. In Palakkad, it has 31 branches. Apart from distributing Kisan credit cards to farmers, the bank has posted specialised agriculture officer for the district for the speedy assistance to needy agriculturists. The bank has also fulfilled its social commitment by implementing various Government-sponsored schemes under priority sector lending. The bank has also bagged the award for its best performance under government-sponsored scheme from the State Government recently. PNB is the first bank in the State to render assistance to tsunami-affected people, Mr Pillai said.
