Rubber rates steady

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Feb. 7

DOMESTIC spot rubber rates displayed a steady trend on Monday. Buyers preferred to keep an extremely low profile expecting further decline in prices, while the market continued to remain in sellers' mode.

Major manufactures showed no interest to buy even at lower levels though world markets were quoted much better. RSS 4 closed static at Rs 51.75 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi as on Saturday.

The NMCE rubber futures declined further against a positive TOCOM closing.

The February contract was quoted at Rs 50.60 (51.44) a kg, March at Rs 52.09 (52.42), April at Rs 55.22 (55.65) and May at Rs 56.53 (56.95) for RSS 4.

Volumes were low in the absence of fresh buying from traders.

The spot rubber rates per kg on Monday were: RSS-4 51.75 (51.75), RSS-5 50.50 (50.50), ungraded 49.50 (49.50), ISNR 20 51 (51), and latex 60% 39 (39).
