Balan Foods plans to launch vegetable juice mixes, yogurt-based drink

Gaurav Raghuvanshi

Ahmedabad , Feb. 7

BALAN Foods, a Bangalore-based contract manufacturer of drinks, has decided to enter the growing juices and health drinks market with `Miruna Yo', its own yogurt-based drink.

The company, which has already launched the yogurt drink in five flavours along with imported fruit juices in different markets across the country, is also planning to launch vegetable juice mixes by April, the company Chief Executive Officer, Mr V. Balasubramanian, told Business Line here.

"We had surplus capacity at the plant and wanted to enter the market with a milk-based health drink that provides nutrients but is low on fat. We use imported fresh fruit concentrates for Yo and are trying to position it as a health drink for the youth," Mr Balasubramanian said.

"To create awareness, we are planning a massive marketing exercise and we will give away two million packs only for sampling at targeted areas such as malls, schools and colleges," he said.
