Bharti rejigs mobile biz, forms 4 regional hubs

New Delhi , Feb. 9

BHARTI Group on Wednesday announced restructuring of its mobile business with creation of a mobility board. As part of the new structure, Bharti's mobile business has been organised into four hubs in the northern, southern, eastern and the western part of the country.

The move is aimed at decentralising operations role from the corporate office to the regional hubs.

"The Bharti Corporate office would thus focus on strategy, leadership development, architecture and governance. The empowered regional hubs at their end would be responsible and accountable for overall business performance and deployment of strategies in their respective circles and regions," said a press statement.

Mr Sunil Mittal, Chairman and Group Managing Director, Bharti Enterprises, said, "Having crossed the 10 million customer milestone and having a national presence, Bharti is now embarking on a new growth path.

To gear up for this challenge we have made strategic changes in our management organisation structure. The new structure has been designed to feel the pulse of the customer, enhance operational efficiencies and to transform Bharti into a world-class institution."

The Mobility Board will be headed by Mr Manoj Kohli, President Mobility. Mr Ashok Juneja, Director, will take up the new function of `Planning and Special Projects'.

Mr Navaid Khan, formerly Chief Executive Officer, Airtel, Rajasthan, will report to Mr Juneja as Chief of Rural Market Development.
