Seminar on patents in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK) is organising a one-day national seminar on `Product patents and their impact on Indian pharmaceutical industry and bio-informatics' here on Friday.

Dr R. Manavalan, Professor and Head, Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, Annamalai University, will give a presentation on `Introduction to product patents and IPR, emergence of bio-informatics.'

Among those who will join him subsequently are Dr Elizabeth Varkey, intellectual property rights expert and Advocate, High Court of Kerala; Dr Achyutsankar Nair, Director, Centre for Bio-informatics, University of Kerala; and Dr N.K. Jayakumar, Professor and Head, Department of Law, University of Kerala.

The seminar is intended for students, corporate delegates, research scholars and faculty of the pharmacy, management and law streams, said Dr K.S. Chandrasekar, Organising convenor.
