Regulatory Bodies & Rulings Reliance files not missing: RoCs Our Bureau
New Delhi , Feb. 10 THE Ministry of Company Affairs has received reports from its regional offices - the Registrar of Companies (RoCs), Mumbai and Ahmedabad, that none of the files pertaining to the Reliance group is missing from their records. The Ministry had last month asked the two RoCs to give a status report on allegations that many of the documents of the Reliance group companies were missing from the records. Official sources told Business Line that the documents alleged to be missing from the records included filing of annual returns, details on ownership and communications pertaining to changes in composition of the board of directors. After a thorough inspection, the RoCs are stated to have informed the Ministry that "no files were missing or any duplicate files are maintained by the office." The Ministry's move had come in the wake of recent media reports pertaining to the bitter battle between the Ambani brothers over ownership issue of the company. Recently, younger brother Mr Anil Ambani had met Mr Prem Chand Gupta, Minister of State for Company Affairs, and Ms Komal Anand, Secretary, Company Affairs. Mr Ambani is understood to have discussed various ongoing issues regarding differences between the two brothers, including questions of ownership of the various Reliance companies.
