THE Andhra Pradesh Government has set up a four-member study group to look into the problems faced by non-resident Indians (NRIs) from Andhra Pradesh, mostly in the Gulf region.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Minister for Information and Public Relations, said the NRI study group would visit Kerala, where a separate Ministry was formed to take care of NRI affairs, in the first week of April.
The State issued an order on Friday in this regard. The Minister himself would head the study group. Mr Leeladhar Rao, Mr Raju (both NRIs from the US) and Mr Afser Faheem (an NRI from the Gulf) were the other three members.
A dedicated Web site would also be created to let NRIs post their problems.
The Minister said the group would initiate an extensive study on various aspects of NRIs, including collection of data related to NRIs from Andhra Pradesh.
"We will look into the Kerala model and evaluate how best it would meet the needs of NRIs from Andhra Pradesh," he said.
