THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: District Medical Officers (DMOs) have been directed to take preventive measures on a war footing to fight the spread of malaria and jaundice.

Announcing this, Dr R. Ramabhadran, Director of Indian Systems of Medicine, said Ayurvedic medicines would effectively cure the disease if the diagnosis were made correctly and in good time.

Required medicines have been made available at all Ayurveda dispensaries. The public should also take care to maintain hygiene to prevent the contamination of food and water.
