Medical Institutions & Hospitals Heritage Hospital to spend Rs 6.5 crore on expansion Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Feb. 11 HAVING created an identity as the country's first geriatric hospital, Heritage Hospital has now expanded into a multi-speciality hospital, with 80 beds, and moved into a new premises in the heart of the city. The hospital is investing around Rs 6.5 crore in the entire venture. The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, is expected to inaugurate the new hospital on February 14, its Director, Mr K.R. Gangadharan, told newspersons here today. "In 10 years of existence, the hospital has acquired the required expertise to become a multi-speciality hospital. Since most of the patients are under home- care nursing, the common feedback is we transform ourselves and serve a wide cross section of patients," he explained. Heritage has made a mark in providing `home-care' nursing to elderly patients, providing bed-side assistants, dial-a-driver programme etc. It is now planning to offer the services in Mumbai and Pune. This is in addition to Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bangalore and Chennai, where 350-400 boys and girls provide dedicated service, Mr Gangadharan said. The personnel for these initiatives are partly sourced from the LABS training programme run by Dr Reddy's Foundation. The hospital at present offers physiotherapy with a gym, speech therapy services and has facilities for family counselling. The multi-speciality features will bring in gynaecology and urology facilities as well, he said.
