ICFAI B-School begins MBA admissions

Hyderabad , Feb. 11

THE Vice-Chancellor of ICFAI University, Dr V. Panduranga Rao, has announced that the final selection process for admission to the MBA programme of the ICFAI Business School (IBS) has begun.

More than 20,000 candidates have confirmed participation in the IBS admission process.

Speaking to newspersons on Friday, Dr Rao said that the entrance exam, IBSAT 2004, was held on December 19 last year.

Applicants short-listed on the basis of their performance in IBSAT/GMAT were being called for the selection process. Final admission decision would be made on the basis of merit.

Classes for the MBA programme would commence from May 2 at all the IBS centres.

Meanwhile, responding to the Supreme Court judgment on Friday that termed as unconstitutional a Chhattisgarh law that allows establishment of private Universities in the State, the ICFAI University spokesperson said that the apex court order would not affect the students of the ICFAI University.

"It may affect the students of a number of Universities exclusively approved by the Chattisgarh Government. Our students will not have any problem because the ICFAI University has been notified by the State Governments of Uttaranchal, Sikkim, and Tripura as well," the spokesperson said.

The Supreme Court order on Friday declared null and void over 100 universities established under the Act of Chattisgarh.

While allowing an appeal filed by the noted educationist, Dr Yashpal, a bench headed by Mr Chief Justice R.C. Lahoti quashed the Chhattisgarh Private Universities Establishment Ordinance.
