SOUTHERN Online Bio Technologies Ltd, the city-based information technology and biotechnology services provider, has announced that it has received approval for a grant of euro 3,80,000 (Rs 2 crore) in support of the proposed biodiesel project.

In a press release here, the company said the grant would be administered through the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and forms part of the Government's public-private partnership programme.

According to the company, the grant was intended at supporting farming activity, technical and managerial training and research and development to identify new seeds as raw material for biodiesel production.

The company is currently implementing a biodiesel project with an investment of Rs 17.1 crore in technical collaboration with the Germany-based Lurgi AG, and its Indian partner Chemical Construction International. The biodiesel project, with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes per year, is expected to be operational by November.
