Andhra Bank pact with BITS

HYDERABAD: Andhra Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS), Pilani, to provide educational loans as `preferred financiers' to the students.

The bank sanctioned educational loans to the tune of Rs 720 crore," Mr R. Balakrishnan, Executive Director of the bank, said here in a press release. As many as 36,000 students got loans from the bank so far. Prof. S Venkateswaran, Vice-Chancellor of BITS, asked the bank to fund incubation projects taken up by students. "This will help them become entrepreneurs," he added.
