SBI plans more ATMs in TN

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: State Bank of India will commission 60 ATMs in Tamil Nadu by the month-end, according to the SBI Chief General Manager, Mr P. Chaudhuri. He told mediapersons here that these would be in addition to the existing 300 ATMs. The initiative is part of the focus to give thrust to retail financing, which commands a strong place in the commercial segment, he said.

The bank would take up micro-market surveys shortly to identify areas for extending assistance, he said. Two regional offices would be established for the purpose, one at Salem and the other at Chennai.

The bank is also considering introduction of seven-day banking at its branch offices if it is found viable, he added.

Mr Chaudhuri further disclosed that marketing teamshave been constituted.
