Rubber dips on fresh sales

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Feb. 15

AFTER a short recovery on export news, the rubber market declined again on Tuesday.

Fresh selling from dealers hammered major grades while ISNR 20 and latex were steady and rather inactive.

The uncertainty continued to dampen the market mood as buyers kept off, taking advantage of the situation.

Sheet rubber declined to Rs 50.50 from Rs 50.75 a kg at Kottayam and to Rs 50.75 from Rs 51.00 at Kochi.

Rubber futures showed a weak trend on Tuesday.

The March contract was traded at Rs 52.00 (52.01), April contract at Rs 55.40 (55.59) and May contract at Rs 56.91 (57.21) a kg for RSS 4. The volumes were low.

Physical rubber prices per kg were as follows: RSS-4: 50.50 (50.75), RSS-5: 49.25 (49.75), ungraded: 48.50 (48.75), ISNR 20: 50 (50) and latex 60 per cent: 38 (38).
