Abu Dhabi , Feb. 15

THE Abu Dhabi-based Bin Jabr Group (BJ Group) and India's Vectra Group will set up a joint venture to produce NIMR type of vehicles in India for the domestic market.

The Chairman of the BJ Group, Mr Saeed Al Suwaidi, and the Chairman of Vectra Group, Mr Ravi Rishi, have announced the establishment of their joint venture in India at the ongoing IDEX 2005 venue here.

BJ Group's foray into this market will be the first significant participation of a UAE company in the Indian defence market.

The technology developed by the BJ Group for such a vehicle will suit the Indian Defence Ministry's specifications. Bin Jabr is a diversified group with interests in the automotive, oil and gas, services, electro-mechanical equipment and construction sectors.

BJ Group has its operations in the Gulf, Europe and the US. During the current IDEX, BJ had won a major contract for the manufacture and supply of its range of NIMR High Mobility Tactical vehicles to the UAE armed forces.
