East-Coast Railways

Though East Coast Railways with its headquarters at Bhubaneswar, is the single largest freight-earner for the railways, the Railways Division extending from Kharagpur to Visakhapatnam continues to be neglected, whether in the addition of super-fast trains or implementation of long-standing projects.

The electrification of the Kharagpur-Bhubaneswar line is still in a limbo for want of funds though the entire remaining sector of that line, until Chennai, was electrified more than five years ago.

Similar is the case of setting up of Railway Loco Repair Shop at Bhadrak. It is expected that the Orissa Chief Minister will take up the issue with the Centre so that the situation can be remedied in the coming Rail Budget.
