New Delhi , Feb. 17

SIEMENS Ltd on Thursday announced extension of its global partnership with Enterasys Networks Inc for providing end-to-end convergence solutions to the enterprise market in India.

As part of the alliance, Siemens would integrate its `HiPath' Enterprise Convergence Architecture for voice over IP (VoIP) with Enterasys' full line of Secure Networks to provide converged communication solutions for the Indian market.

"India is the first country in Asia where we are announcing the alliance. The country represents the strongest growth in the networking technology arena," Mr Peter Gartenberg, Executive Vice-President, Communications Enterprise Networks Division, Siemens Ltd, said at a news conference here. The company plans to target call centres, Government, manufacturing and education sectors.

In India, the networking market for switching and routing is estimated at over Rs 2,000 crore and is growing at 19 per cent per annum. "We have a 30 per cent share of the voice market in India and will target similar numbers in the convergence space going forward," he added.

According to Enterasys Networks President (Asia Pacific) Mr Kip Cole, India represented a good opportunity for business as public enterprises as well as the private sector were prospective users of the technology.

"The network is the backbone for business today and convergence of voice and data over high performance, highly secure networks is vital for success," Mr Cole added.
