INDIA and Slovenia have signed a double taxation avoidance agreement (DTAA). The signing of the DTAA is likely to give a fillip to bilateral trade.

An official release said that the DTAA would come into force with immediate effect and would apply in the case of India with effect from April 1 and in the case of Slovenia from January 1, 2006.

The instruments of ratification for bringing into force this agreement have been exchanged between Ms Shobha Majumdar, Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes , on behalf of the Government of India, and Mr Miklavz Borstnik, Chargé d' Affaire, on behalf of the Government of Slovenia.
