THE Opposition parties have dubbed the Andhra Pradesh Budget for 2005-06 as a mere jugglery of figures even while the Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, described it as the "best budget" that has ever been presented in the State.
Former Finance Minister and Telugu Desam Party leader, Mr Y. Ramakrishnudu, said that the Finance Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, had misinformed the House by claiming that the Government had not resorted to ways and means advance during the current fiscal.
Contrary to Mr Rosaiah's contention in his Budget speech, Mr Ramakrishnudu pointed out the `Budget-in-Brief' document had shown drawal of Rs 2,000 crore under "floating debt", which was "nothing but ways and means."
The TDP had also charged the Rajasekhara Reddy Government with driving the State into a "debt trap".
The leader of the CPI (M) Legislature Party, Mr N. Narasimhaiah, said that the Budget had failed to reflect the aspirations of the people. The CPI Floor Leader in the Legislative Assembly, Mr Ch. Venkat Reddy, said it was painful that the Congress Government had not incorporated even 50 per cent of its poll promises in its first full-fledged Budget.
The BJP Floor Leader, Mr G. Kishan Reddy, termed the budget as "bland" while the MIM Floor Leader, Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi, criticised it for not allocating adequate amount for the welfare of minorities.
