Award for L&T CMD

CHENNAI: The Medical Research Foundation and Vision Research Foundation conferred the "Sankara Ratna Award" for 2004 on Mr A.M. Naik, Chairman and Managing Director, Larsen & Toubro Ltd in recognition of his outstanding support and most distinguished service to cause and philosophy of Sankara Nethralaya, the eye hospital run by the foundation. The Tamil Nadu Governor, Mr S.S. Barnala, handed over the award to Mr Naik at a function on Saturday.

According to Dr S.S. Badrinath, Chairman, Sankara Nethralaya, the award is given annually since 2002 to recognise those who have helped the hospital. L&T has supported the hospital in a number of projects, including an operation theatre complex, the Elite School of Optometry, Microbiology Research Laboratory and Ocular Pathology Laboratory.
