The scene at a vanilla farm. Indian vanilla is expected to become a favourite in the world market due to a new venture by the Spices Board and STCL (Spices Trading Corporation). Vanilla beans will be procured from registered farmers' groups for direct marketing. The total export of cured vanilla beans during 2003-04 was 26 tonnes worth Rs 36 crore at a unit value of Rs 13,870 per kg.
