A HIGH-ranking 25-member delegation from the Ahmedabad Management Association, including entrepreneurs, promoters and senior decision makers headed by Mr Rajiv Mehta, Chairman of the association, visited the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) to survey the facilities and benefits for foreign investors.
The team also discussed the communication and business cooperation between two parties, the Jafza said in a statement.
Dr Mohammed Al Banna, Regional Manager of Asia and Pacific, Jafza, said that there were 600 Indian companies in the zone out of a total of 4,000. The Indian firms are involved in various fields of industry, trade and services.
Dr Al Banna said that the Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation was now involved in managing two ports in India, at Kochi and Visakhapatnam, through its international arm Dubai International. This represents an additional incentive for promoting and fortifying trade exchanges between India and the UAE, he said.
He also presented details about plans for the new eight-cluster South Zone industrial expansion that includes Dubai Distribution Centre, Digital Valley, Construction Square, Pharma-Med Park, Chemical & Plastic Field, Paper Pack Zone, Fragrance & Beauty Park and Food & Beverage Park that is being developed at an estimated cost of more than Dh 2 billion.
Mr Rajiv Mehta said the basic objective of this visit is to get exposure to the UAE business environment and to view the world-class port facilities and infrastructure for industries.
