Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Feb. 24

DOMESTIC spot rubber closed steady on Thursday.

Market was rather inactive and transactions were in a low key. Traders were not interested to create fresh commitments in fundamentally unstable market conditions. Sheet rubber RSS 4 closed steady at Rs 51.25 at Kottayam, but slightly improved to Rs 51.75 from Rs 51.50 a kg at Kochi.

The NMCE rubber futures continued to rule better.

The March contract was traded at Rs 52.90 (Rs 52.59), April contract at Rs 56.10 (Rs 55.68), May at Rs 58 (Rs 57.56) and June contract at Rs 59.05 (Rs 58.60) per kg for RSS 4. Volumes were moderate.

At Bangkok, RSS 3 remained unchanged at Rs 55.86 a kg, while the March futures at TOCOM improved to 133.6 yen against Wednesday's 130.2 yen.

Spot rubber prices a kg were as follows: RSS-4: Rs 51.25 (Rs 51.25); RSS-5: Rs 50 (Rs 50); ungraded: Rs 49.50 (Rs 49.50); ISNR 20: Rs 50 (Rs 50); and latex 60 per cent: Rs 38 (Rs 38).
