THE California-based US Technology Resources LLC and US retailer Safeway Inc have announced a $27 million, five-year contract under which US Technology will develop software for Safeway Inc.

Addressing a press conference in the city , Mr David Ching, Chief Information Officer, Safeway Inc, and Mr Sajan Pillai, Chief Operating Officer, US Technology, said the software development would be carried out by the US Technology's offshore development centre located at the Technopark Thiruvananthapuram.

Though the value of the contract is currently put at $27 million, an increase in its value is possible, Mr Ching emphasised.
