Alliances & Joint Ventures US Technology, Safeway ink pact Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , Feb. 24 THE California-based US Technology Resources LLC and US retailer Safeway Inc have announced a $27 million, five-year contract under which US Technology will develop software for Safeway Inc. Addressing a press conference in the city , Mr David Ching, Chief Information Officer, Safeway Inc, and Mr Sajan Pillai, Chief Operating Officer, US Technology, said the software development would be carried out by the US Technology's offshore development centre located at the Technopark Thiruvananthapuram. Though the value of the contract is currently put at $27 million, an increase in its value is possible, Mr Ching emphasised. The two companies have worked together for the past few years, said Mr Pillai. US Technology provides Safeway with a range of IT services and support, he added. US Software Pvt Ltd, the offshore arm of US Technology, currently employs around 2,000 people at its software development centres in Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai, said Mr Pillai.
