Mumbai , Feb. 25

MAHANAGAR Gas Ltd, subsidiary of British Gas and GAIL India, said on Friday that it has commissioned its hundredth compressed natural gas (CNG) dispensing station in Mumbai.

The company now supplies auto rickshaws and other vehicles in the city 11-lakh kg of gas every day.

MGL supplies natural gas to households and vehicles through a piped distribution network spread across Mumbai and some parts of Thane.

MGL also supplies piped natural gas to 2.17 lakh homes, 687 small commercial and industrial units and CNG to more than 1.45 lakh vehicles in the city, a news release said.

It plans to supply gas to another 50,000 homes every year in the future. The CNG supply cuts more than 55,000 kg of pollutants that would have otherwise affected the city every day, the release said.
